Where Is GTA VI Set? Vice City and the State of Leonida

GTA VI returns to Vice City — but this time it's part of a much larger fictional state called Leonida, a stand-in for modern-day Florida.

The state of Leonida

Leonida wraps neon beaches, dense city blocks, swampland and tropical islands into one open world. Confirmed regions include:

• Vice City — the Miami-inspired metropolis at the heart of the map
• Port Gellhorn — a Panama City-inspired coastal city
• Ambrosia — a north-central city
• Grassrivers — Everglades-style wetlands
• Leonida Keys — a Florida Keys-inspired archipelago
• Mount Kalaga National Park — northern wilderness

Vice City neighborhoods

Within Vice City, confirmed districts so far include Ocean Beach, South Beach, Washington Beach, Little Haiti, Little Havana, Leaf Links and the Wynwood-style Stockyard arts district.

Real-world inspiration

As with past GTA maps, locations are parodies of real places: Vice City echoes Miami, the Keys echo the Florida Keys, and smaller towns nod to spots like Key Largo and Cedar Key.
